History of INSTRUCT

Foundation & Early Years (1989–1993)

INSTRUCT was founded in 1989 as the Centre for Awareness in Construction and Engineering (CACE). The institute operated from the Karnataka State Contractors Association Building, Basavangudi, Bengaluru.

During this period, 40 specialised training programmes were successfully conducted and widely recognised by the construction fraternity.

Institutional Growth (1993–1997)

In December 1993, the institute was registered as the Regional Institute of Construction Management and Research (RICMAR) under the Societies Registration Act, 1960.

Operating under the guidance of the UVCE Alumni Association and the Indian Concrete Institute, Bengaluru, RICMAR conducted over 250 professional programmes, later relocating to Malleshwaram.

Evolution into INSTRUCT (1997 onwards)

To strengthen its focus on education, training, and skill development for grassroots workers and middle-level managers, the institute was renamed Institute for Research, Development and Training of Construction Trades and Management (INSTRUCT) in February 1997.

In December 1997, INSTRUCT moved to the UVCE Alumni Association Building, K.R. Circle, Bengaluru, under a long-term lease. A dedicated 1,400 sq. ft. office facility was developed on the first floor.

In 2004, INSTRUCT formally adopted its Memorandum of Association and Byelaws, reinforcing its institutional framework and long-term vision.
